TERRITORY MTB
262 km² of nature, culture and gastronomy in their purest form. More than 700 km of routes to discover and enjoy it.
Pla de l’Estany, located inland in the province of Girona in the northeast of Catalonia, is one of those territories you don’t fully understand until you explore it by bike. It’s full of nuance: gentle landscapes, endless paths, and a constant connection between nature, history, and local life.
Lake Banyoles, the largest natural lake in Catalonia, shapes the character of the region and serves as the starting point for many itineraries. It’s an ideal MTB destination thanks to its variety of terrain and the ease of linking routes between different towns.
Pla de l’Estany is TERRITORY MTB.

Banyoles
Our routes start and finish in Banyoles, the capital of the Pla de l’Estany region.
Banyoles has been known since medieval times as the city of water, widely recognised for its lake, around which the life of the town revolves.
With all the essential services for a unique experience —hotels, restaurants and sports facilities— Banyoles stands out for its strong sporting spirit and close connection with nature, making it the ideal starting point to explore and discover the entire Pla de l’Estany region.

Porqueres
A neighbouring municipality of Banyoles, just a few kilometres away, where you will find countless small churches and hermitages. It is also home to the Ermita the Sant Patllari, one of the highest points in the region, offering spectacular views over the surrounding landscape.
Sant Patllari stands at 647 metres above sea level, with an elevation gain of around 500 metres from Banyoles. It can be reached via forest tracks and a few more technical sections in roughly a two-hour ride.
Within the municipality there is also another distinctive place: the Can Ginebreda forest, an artistic woodland featuring sculptures by the artist Xicu Cabanyes. Its paths can be explored on foot, while access to the forest itself can be easily reached by bicycle.

Sant Miquel de Capmajor
A municipality characterised by its many natural springs, creating a lush and green environment that is ideal for cycling. One of its highlights is La Gorga del Diable, a true oasis where you can cool off and enjoy nature.
The route can be reached by bicycle with relative ease, except for the final section (5–10 minutes), which must be done on foot. However, the setting is absolutely worth it.

Camós
Here you will find the Roman villa of Vilauba, remarkably well preserved and offering a clear insight into what life in the area was like thousands of years ago. Access is easy via rural paths, making it a cultural stop suitable for all levels.
You can also enjoy the Font de Sant Dalmau, an idyllic spot to cool off after a day of MTB riding.

Palol de Revartit
This municipality will surprise you with everything hidden within its territory: Romanesque bridges, dolmens, ice wells and even a castle. The forests and trails here inspired the novel Soldados de Salamina by Javier Cercas, later adapted into a film by director David Trueba.
These are lush forests suitable for all levels, with very flowing and rideable routes.

Cornellà de Terri
A municipality with a strong Romanesque cultural heritage, reflected in the many churches and small hermitages found throughout the area. The municipality stretches along the banks of the Terri River and its tributaries.
The area is full of routes that combine forest tracks, trails through holm oak and oak forests, and sections with small bridges and streams. It is a very suitable area for relaxed rides or mildly technical routes.
Within the municipality, beyond its Romanesque cultural heritage, you will also find dreamlike landscapes such as the Pont del Sord, located in a wooded area criss-crossed by paths that follow small watercourses.

Vilademuls
This area is full of rural tracks and gentle forests, making it ideal for planning long and flowing rides. Dirt farm tracks, forest paths through holm oaks and pines, and trails running between fields and woodland are abundant.
The municipality has a gentle landscape, with short but constant elevation changes. Highlights include the forests between Vilademuls and Galliners and the surroundings of the Fluvià River, with natural tracks and very open landscapes.
It is a quiet and uncrowded environment, perfect for relaxed and flowing riding days in close contact with nature.

Esponellà
It is a little-known area, yet the municipality holds a rich cultural heritage and many highly rideable paths. Open landscapes and rural tracks are abundant, and the area remains largely uncrowded.
It is a true territory experience — pure TERRITORY MTB — where you enjoy nature, culture and gastronomy as you ride through it.
Highlights include the Salt de Martís, one of the most spectacular spots along the Fluvià River, the medieval bridge of Esponellà (which has been blown up twice in its history), and the castle and historic old town of Esponellà.

Crespià
The municipality stands out for its rural authenticity, its cultural heritage —highlighted by its rock-cut church built into the natural stone— and for being a very quiet area for MTB routes.
The rock-cut chapel is carved directly into the natural rock and, due to its uniqueness, becomes a distinctive stop and highlight along a route.

Serinyà
This is an area whose landscape and history make it particularly attractive for an MTB experience. It stands out for its varied scenery, where forests, fields and the Fluvià valley all come together.
Among the highlights are the Prehistoric Caves Park, an essential cultural visit, and the Fluvià Valley itself, where you will find fast tracks running through Mediterranean woodland.

Rocacorba
A geographical icon of the area, belonging to the municipality of Canet d’Adri (Gironès), but located right on the border with the Pla de l’Estany. This makes it a classic landmark for MTB routes in the region.
Rocacorba can be reached via forest tracks that climb steadily to the sanctuary at 980 metres. These are long forest tracks with some rocky sections. It is worth noting that the route is physically demanding, although not particularly technical.
Once you reach the summit, you are rewarded with spectacular views over the Pla de l’Estany region, the city of Girona, the Empordà and, on clear days, even the sea.
